Franchise Spotlight: Construction
Sector features house building franchises, a home renovation opportunity and kitchen makeover businesses.
Australia’s construction sector is forecast by Research and Markets to have a reasonable industry growth rate in the coming months and years, even as other industries struggle to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The industry comprises businesses involved in the construction of new buildings, whether homes, commercial buildings or infrastructures like roads, bridges and rail terminals. This includes building firms and suppliers of materials and ancillary services.
However, the franchising market is currently dominated by house building firms.
Franchise market analysis
Stroud Homes, for instance, claims to offer the low prices of big builders and the customer service of a small builder. The company also says its fee structure compares favourably to other building franchises and that its culture fosters innovation and agility.
Harrington Homes, meanwhile, provides house drafting support, prices comparable to those achieved by the largest building firms, and 50 unique home designs complete with architectural drawings, facade renders, full bill of quantities and brochures.
Green Homes is an eco-friendly house builder that promises franchisees more customer enquiries than they can handle, industry-leading purchasing power and support, business mentoring from industry leaders, quoting and project management applications, and marketing strategy and support.
Unlike other franchise sectors, construction franchises do usually seek franchisees with industry experience, specifically licensed builders.
That said, this does not apply to Refresh Renovations. The home renovation franchise opportunity is a sales and marketing role, with design, trades and project management skills dealt with by other specialists in the team.
The construction franchise category also overlaps tangentially with property and home improvement franchises such as Dream Doors, which has a global footprint.
Founded in the UK in 1999 and launched in Australia in 2013, Dream Doors pioneered the kitchen ‘facelift’, which slashes the price of kitchen renovations by only replacing doors, benchtops, splashbacks and cabinets.
